University of Ljubljana: Module US
Course Description: Virtual fashion and the future - FUTURING US through virtual touch
Duration: Project was set of 3 parts of different intensities in duration of 11 weeks
Students: Third-year students of Textile and Fashion Design 22 students divided into two groups
This module provides a structured approach to developing a conceptual vision of a speculative future environment and an imaginative avatar, incorporating carefully designed garments and accessories essential for survival. Building on the knowledge and skills acquired in WP2 and WP3, the module introduces students to the process of digitizing manual patterns, refining avatars in CLO3D, and utilizing open-source software such as Blender.
Students will begin by manually designing various textures and materials while preparing maquettes for the envisioned environment. Subsequently, they will modify the avatar in CLO3D to ensure an appropriate fit for the garments before transitioning to Blender for further design refinements. Once the avatar is finalized, students will create garments, which will then be exported into Blender for advanced textile and texture development.
Through this process, students will gain proficiency in converting avatars and garments between CLO3D and Blender. Additionally, they will be encouraged to develop their envisioned environments within Blender and explore basic animation techniques.
