This course introduces students to Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Extended Reality (XR), including Augmented, Virtual, and Mixed Reality, with a focus on their applications in fashion, textiles, and accessories. Students gain a foundational understanding of these technologies, exploring their creative potential and sustainable solutions.
Working in cross-disciplinary groups, students from fashion, textile, and accessory majors collaborate to combine their diverse perspectives.
Speculative design is central to the course, inviting students to imagine future scenarios that integrate these newly introduced digital tools in innovative ways. Through critical inquiry and creative exploration, students challenge current conventions and envision meaningful alternatives.
Throughout the course, students map their methods, skills, knowledge, and aspirations, helping to track progress and set personal learning goals. They engage with digital tools (AI, AR, VR) to support their speculative design proposals.
The course concludes with reflection on learning outcome and possible future use of knowledge, skills, and competencies gained from this course module.
